We’re going to my favorite thrift store of all time later on today. It’s fall and last year’s wardrobe is extremely sub-par. I need a lot of new clothes, i need them cheap, and i need them now. So i’m dicking around on the internet looking for some inspiration when i got sucked into looking at pictures of Gwen Stefani’s street style…for the passed 30 minutes? Feelin’ good feelin GREAT

Her L.A.M.B. spring 2012 collection is BONKERS. Pop on over to my brandy new site (as in literally just made my first post) to see it  here.

Artist Spotlight: Amy Ruhl

19 Aug

Amy Ruhl out of Brooklyn NY is a incredible film maker and visual artist, currently working on a instillation entitled “How Mata Hari Lost Her Head and Found Her Body”.  From the clips I have seen on her website I have been blown away. Colorful, beautiful, and vibrantly psychedelic, she has a clear and cohesive motif without restricting or confining herself. As described in her bio section of her page ” One of her primary concerns is exploring how the advent of cinema uniquely technologized the human body, and more specifically, created a new language to articulate desire and anxiety over the female form.”

I discovered Amy through my affinity for the music of fellow Jersey boy Julian Lynch, who Amy has enlisted the soundtrack duties of “How Mata Hari Lost Her Head and Found Her Body”, something I cannot wait to get my mits on, and that you can pre-order here. Amy and Julian have collaborated in the past on the music video for his song “Seed”.

So check her out, for Amy’s work is fascinating, gorgeous, entertaining, and thought provoking, and I hope you all enjoy.

Be Well.

Getting Ready for Vacation

18 Jul

First, let’s go over the weekend..

nail situ: I didn’t clean my cuticles before I shot this, sorry, I’m not sorry. I used Essie’s “Borrowed & Blue” from the 2011 Wedding Collection as the base. To get the drip effect I let the polish collect a bit at the bottom of the drip and brushed it back towards the tip of the nail. Then I connected them across the tip like you would a french manicure.

I seriously cannot get anything done with ^this in my room.

Luckily I have Paula Abdul Dance Mixes in my record collection, which was on full blast to get us pumped for our ride to Seaside Heights. (Which was an epic shit-show..would you expect anything less?) I was too distracted by drinking to take a lot of photos, but I did manage to capture the aftermath in the morning:

Massive headache..check. Sunglasses I found in Matt’s car missing one arm…check. Wearing new favorite shirt…check. All in all a pretty successful venture.

This Friday I’m heading to Topsail, North Carolina.

I’m so exited, I made this checklist:

What I’m not exited about is the fact that this 10-year-old girl was bitten by a shark at Topsail Beach in 3 1/2 feet of water on July 1st.  Last year a 13-year-old girl was bitten twice before she made it out of the water. A few days later someone snapped a picture of this bull shark in the ocean..

I should probably stop googling this topic or I’m not going in the ocean at all.

I leave you with these

Soooooo good! Found on Shlooby Kitten

Things That I Want

12 Jul

So sorry I haven’t been posting lately, no excuses, so all I can do is try and make up for it, beginning by posting a Jenny style. . . well. . style post.Only this won’t be about pretty dresses and finger nails.

Reebok recently announced the release of The “Classic Vintage” Collection pack, featuring four of their memorable 1980’s fitness silhouettes, coming the end of this month. The quartet of leather sneakers display a sharp white and gray color way, and when juxtaposed against the flashy neons and loud geometric shapes of the era it caused these shoes to have a bold discord with the decade’s current fashion trends, allowing them to stand out in our collective memory. The Freestyle, Ex-O-Fit, Workout, and Classic Leather are not campy, in  jest of, reissues, they are meticulously detailed exact replicas.  Down to an advanced aging technique that ensures the glue turns the right shade of faded tan. CRAZY! Needless to say, these shoe designs are awesome!

Sometimes I get sucked into this black hole of going through countless “fashion” blogs, occasionally to the point where my eyes glaze over. At first I like them, I think the girl is drop, and get inspired by some of the flawless outfits she posts, amazing recipes she’s concocted, perfect rooms in her home, her never out-of-place super model hair, her god damn makeup, her closet, her jewelry…and then all of a sudden I get angry. Seriously though, who the hell follows these girls around all day and takes millions of pictures of them? Don’t they EVER just wear sweatpants? Does their nail polish ever chip? When they dump out their purse and take pictures of the contents, how long does it take them to arrange all that perfect shit? And where are all the crumpled receipts and candy wrappers and airplane sized bottles of booze?  AND WHAT KIND OF JOB DO THEY HAVE WHERE THEY CAN AFFORD ALL THIS HIGH END SHIT?

Then I just head over to Regretsy and laugh it off…

Congrats Dirk!

Music Video of The Day

13 Jun

In case anyone was having a case of the Mondays here is a little ray of sunshine certain to brighten your spirits in the form of this music video By Japanese artist   Shugo Tokumaru for the song Parachutes. The song features a driving, and constantly uplifting guitar rhythm met with what sounds like fisher price xylophone interjections, all to be topped off with Shugo’s light and sweet vocals. I have yet to translate the lyrics but I am sure, somehow the subject matter is inherently positive. The animated footage is done entirely in paint, and through this is able reflect the childlike innocence of the song, without being cheesy or lacking entertainment value. After a short time you’ll begin to realize how meticulous this must have been to compile.  If you are down, bored, tired, or still hungover from the weekend, this is sure to cheer you up, and if you enjoy watch all of his videos available on his website.

Let’s take a moment to remember this…

I’m really suprised they haven’t remade this into a movie yet. Wait, am I really thinking about Netflixing this?

(I am.)

Someone’s Got a Case of the Mondays

(it’s her) Our dog, Lotus

This is the highlight of my day thus far:

Vogue Italia features some REAL women. The images are absolutely beautiful.

The Alexander McQueen Exibit at the Met is beyond incredible. Do not pass this one up.

His spring 2010 show was the best runway show I have seen in my life.
