iphone photography

13 Oct

I’ve been making jewelry for a couple of years now, and have been entangled in the very drawn out process of re-branding. Branding can be difficult, I went through a slew of different names before I finally committed to one. To be honest, I think that was the most difficult part. The next challenge I was facing was getting decent product shots with the equipment that I have. My camera is an old Canon power-shot digital elph, which is still a great camera, BUT I’ve gotten a scratch on the lens through the years. I was considering sucking it up and finally buying a digital slr, but my purse strings are tight these days. I recently bought my iphone and have since fallen head-over-heals, particularly with the Instagr.am app. Yesterday I began messing around with using my iphone to photograph some of my bracelets, and was pleasantly surprised with the results. I’ve downloaded the basic Adobe photo editor onto my ipad which is perfect for the small amounts of editing I need, such as cropping and brightening. In addition to that, I grabbed an app on my phone itself called BeFunky which does the same things. Both are free. Here’s what I got:

Not too shabby.

I’ve officially launched my other site, Las Charolastras. Check it out!

And stop by the shop and show me some love

All that glitters

I LOVE April March

I just found out she was a principal animator on Ren & Stimpy for a while, which makes me like her even more.

I ripped off the gemstones on my nails last night to try out the look Essie did for Pamela Love’s ss 2012 show

I’m craving shoes right now. MILLIONS OF SHOES. I was swapping out my summer shoes with some fall shoes last night and suddenly my closet turned black. So I’m looking to add a little variety this year. Just because my ‘tude is dark when the weather cools doesn’t mean my shoes have to be. I’d really like to add some color and texture. I want glitter, velvet, and suede.

New Rye Rye video/lookbook for Prabal Gurung

“New Thing”

Is it just me, or at :35 into Rye Rye’s song does it sounds a lot like this…

It makes me really bummed out that Zara Home does not ship to the U.S. Then again, maybe it’s better for my wallet that they don’t.

It’s All Happening

Ordered more fun from MiniatureSweet yesterday….

New nails..

Really not the greatest pictures.  Sowwy (it’s pretty hard taking pictures of your own hands)

I LOVE the lookbook for Wildfox’s Fall 2011 collection. Here are some of my favorite images..

Inspired by Almost Famous, what I really love about this shoot is the story behind the images. I chose these above images because they have cinematic, film-still quality. I’m haunted by some of these pictures and to me that is what makes an effective advertisement. In the past Wildfox has featured some pretty over-modeled look books (seriously, I don’t care about how pouty and beautiful the girl is wearing the clothes. I care about the CLOTHES) but these images convey a feeling, and it’s a great one. Can’t wait to see what they do next.
