Gwen

30 Sep

We’re going to my favorite thrift store of all time later on today. It’s fall and last year’s wardrobe is extremely sub-par. I need a lot of new clothes, i need them cheap, and i need them now. So i’m dicking around on the internet looking for some inspiration when i got sucked into looking at pictures of Gwen Stefani’s street style…for the passed 30 minutes? Feelin’ good feelin GREAT

Her L.A.M.B. spring 2012 collection is BONKERS. Pop on over to my brandy new site (as in literally just made my first post) to see it  here.

SoundCloud Souviner – Sun Araw and High Wolf

29 Sep

Sun Araw has swiftly vaulted himself in to the upper echelon of psychedelic tune makers and internet buzz creators.  If you are unfamiliar with his work, he is extremely well versed in his musical exploration jumping from drugged out spiritual jams to afrocentric dub inspired tracks, here is a small sample of what you can expect as he tweeted a link to jam, entitled “Shrine Time” he did with France’s psychedelic diplomat to the world, High Wolf, enjoy.

Recently I’ve been thinking about chopping all of my hair off but then I saw this picture over at Wildfox.com and changed my mind.

We have the exact same hair (except hers is longer and better.) Okay so we have the same color hair.

(Here is where I desperately tried to insert a clip from the movie Showgirls where she miss-pronounces “Versace” but could not figure out how to embed a video from imdb because that is the only website that had it)

I LOVE me some Versace. I want to be Donatella.

Versace is teaming up with H&M this fall. Drops November 19th!!!!

Can’t Handle the Cute

23 Sep

Prepare yourself for the most ridiculous cute over-load you’ve ever had in our entire life. Having a bad day? Not anymore. I’ve been cracking up at these micro teacup puppies literally all day long. They are expense (some are priced at $10,000) they are tiny, and they are tooooo cute. Go here, and book mark it, because if you’re ever really pissed off, or feeling kinda shitty, looking at these abnormal little things will lift your spirit. If that doesn’t work, you seriously have no soul. Enjoy ❤

This one is a bad ass ^ it smokes some kind of black Marlboro’s I’ve never even seen before.

I just cannot.

All that glitters

22 Sep

I LOVE April March

I just found out she was a principal animator on Ren & Stimpy for a while, which makes me like her even more.

I ripped off the gemstones on my nails last night to try out the look Essie did for Pamela Love’s ss 2012 show

I’m craving shoes right now. MILLIONS OF SHOES. I was swapping out my summer shoes with some fall shoes last night and suddenly my closet turned black. So I’m looking to add a little variety this year. Just because my ‘tude is dark when the weather cools doesn’t mean my shoes have to be. I’d really like to add some color and texture. I want glitter, velvet, and suede.

ASOS (these made an appearance on someone’s bday list this year, under the pony I NEVER GET)

SoundCloud Souvenir – Ramp Recordings

21 Sep

This edition of SC Souvenir is going to be short, but hearty, like BBQ pull pork eating contest hearty, and something I could totally go for right about now, well just the pulled pork not the eating contest. Amidst the darker side of Autumn that locks us inside to study or work with it is gray skies and rain, as it has these past few days in NJ, try to overcome with the help of some the seriously awesome dance tracks that are up on Ramp Recordings SoundCloud;

Colin Stetson Live 3am Montreal

16 Sep

When a person or people describe music as avant garde, your initial subconscious reaction is to discover your brain reminiscing about some noisy DIY show you’ve been to in a college city basement or pondering some of the iconic godfathers pursuing alternative techniques of pushing art and music to it’s limits and then some(Zappa, Sun Ra, etc.). You could very well just be grouping for words trying to define exactly what avant garde means. Experimental? yes. Innovative? yes. Crazy? sort of. Weird? maybe.

The French translation roughly means advanced guard, with the adjective English version literally meaning to advance the boundaries. Something that horn specialist Colin Stetson has accomplished with a great deal of success. Colin’s music is not some “emperor’s new clothes” phenomena like some artists I think get away with, his sound is refined, his talent with his instruments reaching great heights, and the skill in producing his performances is nothing short of spectacular.

I had fallen in love with his record, New History Warfare Vol. 2: Judges, after a trusted friend’s recommendation lead me to acquire it, and after drifting out of heavy personal rotation I saw this video and  it was immediately thrust back in to an even heavier rotation this time around as it was brought to my attention that the entire album is recorded on 24 different mic positions, with no looping or over-dubbing. That simply is amazing! My mind will perpetually be blow by this concept. I am struggling to describe how utterly impressive that is, so I will shut up and let you enjoy the video, which is impressive in it’s own right because there was no audio post production, all the sounds you are hearing where just capture by the live mics in one take. including the cars driving by in the tunnel below.

NYFW S/S 2012: Ralph Lauren

16 Sep

Always a classic show in my book, Ralph Lauren never disappoints me. I love the art deco looks, and the old Hollywood Glamor feel that I got from the long silk dresses paired with the luxurious stoles. The runway was gorgeous too, an opalescent white, but atmosphere was so high-key it seems to have made photographing some of the solid white looks a little tricky. initially flipping through the photographs from style.com, I would catch a glimpse of the next look coming onto the runway, but by the time she was at the end in the direct light a lot of the detail looks like it got washed out. Here are my favorites:
