Artist Spotlight: Amy Ruhl

19 Aug

Amy Ruhl out of Brooklyn NY is a incredible film maker and visual artist, currently working on a instillation entitled “How Mata Hari Lost Her Head and Found Her Body”.  From the clips I have seen on her website I have been blown away. Colorful, beautiful, and vibrantly psychedelic, she has a clear and cohesive motif without restricting or confining herself. As described in her bio section of her page ” One of her primary concerns is exploring how the advent of cinema uniquely technologized the human body, and more specifically, created a new language to articulate desire and anxiety over the female form.”

I discovered Amy through my affinity for the music of fellow Jersey boy Julian Lynch, who Amy has enlisted the soundtrack duties of “How Mata Hari Lost Her Head and Found Her Body”, something I cannot wait to get my mits on, and that you can pre-order here. Amy and Julian have collaborated in the past on the music video for his song “Seed”.

So check her out, for Amy’s work is fascinating, gorgeous, entertaining, and thought provoking, and I hope you all enjoy.

Be Well.
